Tenor Stuart Mitchell


is a truly remarkable new voice for our time. He has a uniquely gifted instrument, mind, and ear that enable him to sing almost any genre of music: modern or ancient. This great versatility, coupled with a substantial fundamental vocal beauty, is a rare gift.

With respect to sacred masterworks, he has appeared with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Waukesha Symphony Orchestra, Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, Racine Symphony, Bach Chamber Choir of  Milwaukee, Mastersingers, Music by the Lake Singers, Menomonee Falls Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra, Evangelical Choral Society & Grand Rapids Symphony, and many others. Mr. Mitchell has accomplished some truly powerful, inspiring role interpretations. The many works performed include those from the early masters to the present day: Allegri, Monte Verdi, Pergolesi, Bach, CPE Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, Mozart, Hadyn, Beethoven, Schubert, Bizet, Mendelssohn, Britten, Virgil Thompson, Ralph Vaughn Williams, Karl Jenkins, and continuing.

In addition, he enjoys using his talents on the opera and musicale stages. Mr. Mitchell has performed with the Florentine Opera, Milwaukee Opera Theatre, La Musica Lirica, Windfall Theatre, Cornerstone University, Music by the Lake Singers, etc. He is a delightful Ernesto in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, Tonio in Donizetti’s La Fille du Regiment, Ferrando in Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte, Ballad Singer in Carlisle Floyd’s Of Mice and Men, and other principle roles. For his keen comic acting, Mitchell was also cast as Sergeant in Rossini’s Il Barbiero di Siviglia,
and the Duke of Crakentorp in Donizetti’s Le Fille du Regiment. He has thrilled many audiences in concerts with aforementioned role arias and from Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, Puccini’s Turandot, Verdi’s La Traviata and Rigoletto, Mascagni’s Cavaleria Rusticana, and Rossini’s La Cenerentola. On the musicale stage, he has
performed the roles of FDR in Annie, Doody in Grease, Reuven in Ruth, Mr. Erlanson in A Little Night Music, and others.

Stuart Mitchell is a champion performer of Christian worship music. His performances are uplifting and memorable by congregations throughout the Milwaukee area and he shares his knowledge with students as the resident voice coach at the Elmbrook Center for the Arts. Additionally, he performs regularly with RiRa, the Milwaukee Celtic folk ensemble and with them has produced two album releases. He is a featured soloist on Elmbrook Church’s released worship album. As a demo recording artist, he appears on two Hal Leonard vocal  anthologies.

Mr. Mitchell graduated magna cum laude from Cornerstone University where he received his undergraduate degree. He received a graduate studies diploma from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.
